I'm having a baby!

July 16th is the date!

Yes, you heard me right. I'm having a baby. A little girl to be exact. Due in July. Having a kid was never really a goal of mine. I get a lot of joy from helping the 4 legged babies out there. Animals have no voices so from an early age I felt a need to help them and use my voice to protect them instead. But as the years go by, you find yourself with serious boyfriends and in the back of your head, you wonder if this is the time to have a kid? Is this the right person to have a kid with? You hear and see horror stories about custody battles and absent parents. Why put yourself through that if you don't have to? But, everyone is different. Is there ever a right time to have a kid? I don't think so. Like I said, everyone is different walking a different path and some have succeeded and some have not. The responsibilty and financial stress alone scared me straight. LOL. But then I met my husband. We have been married 2 years and I knew from the minute we started dating that he wanted kids. So I knew it would one day be a possibility that I would have to face. I have lots of great friends but only a few of them have kids. We ALL have 4 legged kids though. :) So this is a new adventure for a lot of people in my world. People close to me knew early on but I didn't announce it on the air to the public until I was 6 months along! Nothing like waiting. LOL. That's when it started feeling real. Yup...this is happening. Everyone has been so supportive and I am actually enjoying having new conversations with strangers about babies. I find support in all the listeners that have been down this road before and learned what to do and what not to do. This is a whole new world that I am not as scared to be walking in as I thought I would be. I am also happy to have found the right doctors and a midwife at Swedish Medical Center. I had some bad experiences before I found them. I will be sharing all of the stories of my journey here on my daily blog. Please feel free to comment and offer advice or your personal funny stories. Talk to you tomorrow. -Kathie J
