12/15-Who's Smokin' Who?

12/15/2013

On Sunday, December 15th, 2013 host Kathie J was joined by Nikki Heider with the Denver Public Health's Youth Tobacco Prevention Campaign. Tobacco cigarette kills more than cancer and aids combined. The campaign wants to spread the word that cigarette smoking is bad for you and there are nasty chemicals such as toilet bowl cleaner in the cigarettes. Peak years for experimenting with smoking between the ages of 11 and 13 and smoking a whole cigarette for the first time was between 11 and 14 years old. Nationwide, more than 80% of smokers began smoking by age 18. Do what you can to educate the youth. Prevent the youth in Denver from starting to smoke cigarettes. Explain to your children, nieces, nephews and your peers in school the hazards of smoking cigarettes. Think about the facts and empower teens to make their own choice to be the adult they want to be with the habits they want to have. Call 1-800-QUIT-NOW and make your zones smoke free zones to protect the ones you love.
