Awards Were Given Out by MTV Last Night!

May 8, 2017

The "MTV Movie and TV Awards" last night, MTV made a huge deal out of the fact that they were the first award show to NOT separate their acting categories by gender.

The first award of the night was in one of those categories:  Best Actor in a Movie.  And to present the award, they chose Asia Kate Dillon . . . who is gender non-binary, and plays a gender non-binary character on the Showtime series "Billions".

Emma Watson won for "Beauty and the Beast", over nominees including Hugh Jackman, Taraji P. Henson, and James McAvoy.

She was quoteed as saying:

"MTV's move to create a genderless award for acting will mean something different to everyone. "But to me it indicates that acting is about the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes and that doesn't need to be separated into two different categories."

OMG there is much to recap! lol Check out the complete winners list here. You can also check out videos from the show here. And here are a collection of GIFs.  You can check out "Billboard's" Best and Worst Moments list here . . . and here are the moments that "People" magazine just can't stop talking about.
