A stripper, her sex-offender sibling and their half-brother, dubbed the "Dougherty Gang," were arrested Wednesday morning after a high-speed chase in Colorado.
The trio's car flipped after running over stop sticks and smashing into a guardrail on I-25, Pueblo County, Colo., sheriff's deputies said.
Lee Grace Dougherty, 29, emerged from the 2006 Subaru Impreza and began shooting at authorities, who returned fire, plunking the exotic dancer and self-proclaimed "redneck" in the leg.
Her injuries were not serious, and she was transported along with brothers Ryan Edward Dougherty, 21, and Dylan Dougherty Stanley, 26, to Spanish Peak Medical Center for treatment. They were booked at Pueblo County Jail following their release from the hospital.
The fugitive siblings, wanted for a Valdosta bank robbery last Tuesday and the attempted murder of a Zephyrhills, Fla., police officer earlier that morning, were apprehended following a tip from a witness who spotted them Wednesday at a campground near Colorado City.
By the time patrol officers arrived, the vehicle was gone but was spotted soon after at a gas station by troopers. The chase was on, with speeds exceeding 100 mph before it ended some 20 miles later.
Pasco County, Fla., Sheriff Chris Nocco said Wednesday he was not surprised the Doughertys, whom he described as “street-smart criminals," had made it as far as Colorado.
The trio's alleged crime spree began last Tuesday in Pasco County when they fired about 20 shots at a police officer pursuing them in central Florida. One of the bullets pierced the officer’s tire, causing a flat and ending the pursuit.
BUT THEN - Apparently Lee Grace loved to show off...a stripper of course!
